KEYNOTE: Technology Predictions and Microtrends with Dejan Milojicic

Predicting is hard in general and predicting technology is even harder because of the intertwined elements of economic, socio-political, and ecological factors. Yet, understanding the trends and megatrends deeply impacts humanity, business, healthcare, the military, and many other facets of our lives. The Technology Predictions 2025 Report (https://lnkd.in/gfk57n-W) is a comprehensive analysis of the top technological advancements in 2025 to impact humanity. The IEEE Future Directions Committee Megatrends report (https://bit.ly/get-megatrends) classifies technologies into megatrends to enable easier understanding and tracking of meta trends of many technologies.

In this talk, I will discuss problems/demand, opportunities, impact, and sustainable solutions/business opportunities for 22 technology predictions in 2025. I will make recommendations to organizations (industry, academia, governments, professional organizations) and individual roles (end-users, developers, CxOs, and investors). I will discuss how technology evolution will impact future skills and suggest possible disruptors. Gain valuable insights from over 100 experts as they delve into each technology’s predicted success, potential impact, maturity, and market adoption. Don’t miss this chance to learn about the next big technological breakthroughs.

AI, Machine Learning & Generative AI Will Displace More Knowledge Workers Than Many Expect – with Steve Andriole

AI, machine learning and generative AI have the power to transform business processes and entire business models. But how should it do so? Should it do so holistically or piece-by-piece? Should it emphasize the displacement of knowledge professionals or should there be carve outs that protect employees from displacement? Should cost savings drive AI adoption, or should other considerations drive adoption? Everyone is underestimating the impact AI will have on employment. There will be a sweeping displacement of knowledge workers. So how should companies prepare for — or exploit — this inevitability? How should targeted employees prepare?

Artificial Intelligence: What if Ethics Got in the Way with George Hurlburt

Artificial Intelligence, after a long, slow gestation, took off in the early 2020s. Suddenly, former single-purpose instantiations gave rise to seeming linguistic marvels, which are now rapidly followed by self-organizing agentic AI. However, despite phenomenal hype, these new tools summon numerous ethical concerns. This presentation examines these concerns from the perspectives of truthfulness, “fairness”, societal benefit, and the ability to generate goodwill. The presentation will touch on ethical matters such as infrastructure, scale, bias, machine learning, human cost, tradeoffs and more.

Innovation 101 – with Nehad El-Sherif

Innovation is the essential foundation for industrial success, propelling economic growth, and acting as a catalyst for positive change through creativity. Contrary to popular belief, innovation is a methodical and intentional process. In reality, innovation is a structured and deliberate endeavor. It involves rigorous effort and demands considerable diligence, rather than mere flashes of inspiration. The purpose of this presentation is to equip the audience with essential background information on innovation and its significant importance in our lives. Various sources of innovation and the elements of an innovation-enabling culture are discussed. Finally, common attributes of successful innovators are highlighted and advice for individuals aspiring to improve their innovative capabilities are provided.
