Sophia Wushanley

Sophia Wushanley is a PhD student in Philosophy at the University of Michigan and an IEEE TechEthics Global Ambassador. She started pursuing research in ethics and political philosophy during her bachelor’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania and later focused on data ethics for her master’s thesis at the Sorbonne. Before her doctoral studies, Sophia was a software engineer in Paris tech startups for four years. Sophia’s research focuses on data ethics and the philosophical questions presented by informational technologies. Her work examines how these technologies change our institutions and ways of life, especially where these changes expose truths about our values and what we take to be our political rights.
